After a breast cancer diagnosis in the Summer of 2011 and the treatment that followed, Shevawn’s perspective shifted. She gained a renewed sense of purpose, strength and the courage to pursue her dream of public service.
“I have always wanted to serve others through public office. I was just too scared and intimidated by traditional politicians to actually campaign. Since winning the battle against cancer, there’s not much that scares me anymore…”

Shevawn earned her Masters in social work from the University of Kentucky in 2008 and has worked in the field of social work for more than 14 years. She has a passion to change the world, one policy at a time and is a dedicated mother to her 10 year old son, Hayden.
